Google SketchUp Renderings

Here are some Google SketchUp Renderings of what we are doing with the house. This should give everyone a good idea of what are overall plans are. I really wanted to be able to view the house this way and originally thought about hiring someone to do it for us. I checked around and got estimates anywhere from $250-$1250 for someone else to do a 3D Rendering. I decided that I couldn't spend that much on something we didn't REALLY need so I downloaded the program and dove into it headfirst. After two weeks this is what I came up with.

I wish I could do more landscaping, but I definitely don't have time to learn that. If we change our mind on the color options I will be posting them here to hopefully get opinions..

Enjoy and leave comments if you want..

Here is a side-by-side comparison of before and after (hopefully after).

Damon- Great job with the sketchup model! I hope you had fun with it. It really is a good tool to try out options. I do like the way that you fit it into a real photo of the site.
So, I do have one option that I would suggest for your house. I like the wood mass at the front of the house, because I think it will be a nice contrast to the rest of the elements. But, I'm wondering if you want to lower the top of the mass and add a more transparent railing? Because you approach the house from a lower elevation, the wood form starts to obscure the main mass of house. In elevation, it probably looks just great, but in perspective, I think it could be lowered. Or another option would be to keep the front wall high, but lower the 2 side walls, thus creating a front "plane" wall.
Just my 2 cents. I'll shut up now.....
But great job on the sketchup model!

Wow! We're totally blown away! It's looking great- we like the sketch. Can't imagine how much work and sweat you guys and gal have put into that. Makes me pretty happy we're starting from the ground up! Ryan wants to know if you still have some of that cat-pee plywood around- we're in the market for some. We can repurpose that, cash money, no questions asked. Or did Habitat for Humanity pick that up too? If so, we'll pick it up at the re-store when we go next time. If we send you a pic of our house, can you draw a balcony on the front for us? And some nice landscaping? We're really excited to see what we can do with the money we probably won't have by the time we're finished. Keep on keepin' on. And watch your six for the dirty rats...
